Hello!
Union Announcements
- Update on New Classifications - Town Hall Sessions – The CSUEU Bargaining Team is finalizing 6 months of negotiations on new classifications. Last week CSUEU held a couple Town Hall sessions to update represented employees of where we came from, currently doing, and next steps regarding new classifications and mapping employees to the salary schedule (STEPs system). We should all be placed on the salary schedule by October 1, 2025. January 2026, we start negotiations on our next contract. Where you land in the salary schedule table depends on your job description. If you want to participate because your current description is out of date and you expect your classification to change, join a session as guest facilitator, Andrea Skinner (Statewide Chair, Unit 9), leads us through how to review and update our position descriptions.
- Northern CA Campuses (Bakersfield North) session was Tuesday, October 1st.
- Southern CA Campuses (including the CO)
- October 10th: – click to register.
- Those that missed the Northern CA session are welcome to attend the Southern CA session.
- Pledge to Vote Pro Workers! - It’s more important than ever to stand together and ensure our voices are heard. This year, we can elect pro-worker candidates who will support workers’ rights, help secure funding for our Steps, and fight for future raises to help grow California's middle class.
- By voting for pro-worker legislators, we strengthen our union’s ability to negotiate better wages, benefits, and working conditions across the CSU system. The power to protect and advance the great work CSUEU members perform on campuses starts with us.
- Take a moment to pledge to vote pro-workers by signing our Voter Pledge Card. Join CSUEU members and workers across the state in this critical effort to elect leaders who stand with us!
Other ways to support the union:
-
- Let student workers in your department know about the contract negotiations happening and get them involved! They are doing a membership drive from September 30 and will end October 8th. The Student Workers are negotiating $16/hour pay and to gain sick time. The more members, the stronger they are to leverage what they want. What they deserve.
- As a member, you can join your Unit Council meetings. Finding the appropriate BU (Business Unit 5, 7, and 9) meeting, check out the CSUEU calendar.
- Join! Become a member!
- Join our PAC – which is used ONLY to get our state legislators to support and move the CSUEU agenda forward (fund the CSU budget, get us raises and improved benefits!)
- As a member, you also can shape the union’s legislative agenda by joining the CSUEU Legislative Group. If interested, contact Erin Foote.
- Reminder: IRP submission deadline is December 31st. This is the last year IRPs will be accepted per our contract. If interested in starting the process, you will find instructions and the form on the CO In-Range Progression Guidelines – CSUEU Units 7 and 9 page. In the meantime, CSUEU HQ is working toward moving us to the Salary Schedule next year.
- Note: reclassification submissions will be on-going, but if you can start that process now, if it applies, that may change where you land on the salary schedule next October.
- Annual Open Enrollment Ends Friday, October 11th – CSUEU-represented employees at CSU enjoy CalPERS and CSU-sponsored health, dental, and life insurance plans. Check out the 2025 basic plan rates for healthcare. You can enroll or increase your voluntary life insurance without medical questions, up to $100,000 for yourself and $50,000 for your spouse. CSUEU represented employees benefit from the lowest health coverage costs among state employees due to strong negotiated contracts.
