April 1 Paycheck Will Reflect
5% Salary Increase
|
|
|
|
|
|
Good news for CSUEU
members: Look for a 5% salary increase next week in the April 1
paycheck, and then another 5% on August 1. The pay
increases, totalling 10.25% over two years when factoring in
compound earnings, are the result of successful negotiations last
year, which extended our contract with the CSU to
2026.
We won these raises by banding together in union.
Member strength is key and every voice counts. If you haven't

Union Leaders Meet with CSU to Update
Job Classifications
|
|
|
|

One big win our Bargaining Team negotiated in last
year's contract talks was gaining Management commitment to review
outdated job classifications.
As Jessica Westbay, CSUEU Vice President for
Representation, told the Board of Trustees this week: "This
is important work because we need to ensure that the
classifications people are working in match the type of work they
are actually performing. Multiple classifications under review
have not been updated since the 1980s."

Some 9,000 CSUEU-represented staff members will
benefit from the classification review.
"We look forward to productive work with CSU
Management that will help the CSU not only attract but retain
talented staff whose work helps students succeed from enrollment
through graduation," said Jessica.

Student Assistants' first act as unionized workers
was to address the Board of Trustees this week (March 26).
Theresa Limbeek, Bargaining Team member from Fullerton, gave
Trustees a heads up that among the many issues workers want to
tackle are: low pay, lack of paid sick days, and unaffordable
parking.

The California Labor Federation is celebrating
women leaders in the labor movement all month long.
CSUEU President Catherine Hutchinson received some
social media love this week on X (Twitter). The post describes
her as "a true champion for working Californians! As a
Professor of Biology at CSU Channel Islands & CSU San
Bernardino, she's left a lasting legacy of empowerment on her
students & colleagues alike."

We didn't need more research to tell us that
organizing into a union was the right thing to do...but here it
is:
A Center for American Progress analysis shows that union
membership is associated with greater wealth for working-class
families - defined as households without a four-year college
degree. The positive effect increases for working-class families
of color. Click to expand the infograghic. Here's to
