SEIU Convention Commits to Grow Union by 1,000,000
in 10 Years
|
|

|
|
|
Stronger Together is not just a hashtag for union
members. We know we are stronger when we join together to win
good contracts, elect pro-worker leaders, and push for public
policies that grow the middle class.
CSUEU members gathered with some 3,000 union
siblings across the U.S. and Puerto Rico for the SEIU
International Convention held May 20-22 in Philadelphia.

We made history electing the Union's first-ever
Black President, April Verrett, and also the first Latina as
Secretary-Treasurer, Rocio Sáenz. The diverse leadership
signals SEIU's renewed commitment to building a more inclusive
labor movement to improve the lives of Black, Brown, and all
workers.
Check out CSUEU delegates'
photos and highlights of their Convention experience.

CSUEU health care workers were able to participate
in this year's SEIU Nurse Alliance of California Conference
on May 6-7. The coalition consists of SEIU union activists
who advocate to improve care standards for workers and for
patients.
Tessy Reese, LVN-II, Unit
2 Chair (SDSU), reported: "We were able to network with over
75 RN's from across the state who work in acute care, mental
health, dialysis centers and other medical care facilities. We
participated in 4-5 workshops and joined for Lobby Day advocating
for safe staffing. We all made new friends and hope to make this
a yearly event."
Joining Tessy at the conference were: Adelita Jasso,
LVN-II (SDSU); Laura
Roberts, RN-II (Stanislaus); Pam Robertson,
Health Ed Assistant, Unit 2 Vice Chair (Sacramento); Lynette Ursini,
RN-II (Northridge); and Sabrina
Valentine, RN-II, Unit 2
Rep. (Pomona).
