Union Defends Workers' Right to Protest
|
|
|
|
|
|
The CSU recently issued an interim “Systemwide
Time, Place and Manner Policy” outlining the University’s policy
regarding protests and activities on campus. The problem is the
University has no right to take this unilateral step without
first bargaining with the unions of represented employees.
CSU's premature implementation of the policy is a
clear violation of the Higher Education Employer-Employee
Relations Act (HEERA). Our General Counsel has issued a “cease
and desist” demand and has filed an unfair labor practice charge
with the state labor board. >> More

Financial Preparedness Report Offers Insights Into
Retirement Readiness of California State Employees
|
More than a thousand CSUEU members participated in
a research project for the 2024 California State Employees
Financial Preparedness Report. Joining nearly 5,000 state
employees, survey respondents anonymously shared their
personal financial experience, retirement savings status and how
prepared they feel they are for a secure retirement.
The report is now available online with data
such as how much California state employees have set aside for
retirement beyond their pension. >> More

New Member Spotlight!
|
Public support for unions is at the highest in six
decades - and CSUEU members know firsthand what we can win when
workers band together: 17% wage increases over the last 3
years; salary reform to move employees up the pay
scale; legislative allies who support funding Higher Ed.

A union is only as strong as its members and we
need involved members if we are going to continue to protect and
improve our jobs.
Congratulations to Lisa Josefik, of SJSU, who
leaned in and signed up to become a full dues-paying CSUEU
member!
"Being part of an organization that values
collaboration and progress feels like the right step forward. I
am excited to contribute and grow alongside my union
siblings!" said Lisa.
