Know Your Rights If Another Union Strikes
|
|
|
|
|
|
While CSUEU members are proceeding toward a
contract ratification vote later this month, other CSU unions are
still fighting to win the best possible contracts for their
membership. Our Labor Coalition stands strong and we respect and
support our allies' continuing work to win a fair contract.
The right to strike is one of the most important
tools union workers have to secure better working
conditions. Honoring a picket line demonstrates labor solidarity,
which improves wages and working conditions for all workers.
CSUEU members should know we have choices when it comes to
honoring another union's picket line. Read the FAQs posted here.

Staff and Student Assistant Spotlight
|
|
|
|
|
|
Union member activism was key in our
successful campaign to move CSU management at the bargaining
table. Campuses turned out huge rallies to dial up the pressure
on bargaining days - and we could always count on Student
Assistants to show up as well!
Now, up to 20,000 Student Assistants are on their
way to a union election where they can vote to join CSUEU
members and have representation at the bargaining table. That's
right: For the next contract negotiations, our member power will
have doubled!
|
|
|
|
|
|
A group of CSUEU members are actively working on
campuses to talk to Student Assistants about the campaign
and commit them to vote UNION YES in their election.
Read the Q&A where Michael
Ballin, member from Fresno State, and Logan Mouawangyee,
Student Assistant, talk about their combined efforts to Get Out
the Vote.
We are looking for more members to join Michael on
the ground! Sign up here.

Governor Signs CSUEU-Co-Sponsored Legislation to
Bring More Accountability to CSU Title IX Program
|
In response to the chronic mishandling of sexual
harassment and violence cases within the California State
University system, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation from Sen.
Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will increase accountability and
oversight the CSU Title IX program, designed to protect students
and workers from sex-based discrimination.
Sen. Dodd’s Senate Bill 808, co-sponsored by
CSUEU and CFA, was introduced to bring more accountability and
transparency. A California State Auditor report released in July
concluded that in some cases, management improperly closed cases,
failed to provide adequate discipline, or take action against
offenders.
Under SB 808, the CSU must post on campus websites
the outcome of any sexual harassment settlements and also report
to the Legislature.
“CSU Employees Union members applaud the work of Sen. Dodd to
help address the Title IX issues at the CSU,” said CSUEU
President Catherine Hutchinson. “SB 808 represents an important
step that will bring more transparency to the Title IX process at
CSU and ensure that the Legislature and stakeholders have robust
information to further improve the processes at the CSU.”
