July 17 ASI bargaining update

Our union bargaining team met with management on July 17. After almost a year of bargaining, we are finally making progress in negotiations over equipment and safety, medical leave, and holidays.

Our bargaining team also presented wage proposals that recognize employees’ years of service, skills, education, and the rising cost of living.

Our wage proposals

• For staff, we’re demanding:
  • A 5% annual raise in 2026, 2027, and 2028.
  • A 6% annual step increase for each classification during the first five years of employment.
  • Longevity pay:
    • Employees with 10 years of service receive an additional 10% increase to their base wages.
    • Employees with 15 years of service receive an additional 15% increase.
    • Employees with 20 years of service receive an additional 25% increase.
• For student workers, we’re demanding:
  • A $26-per-hour minimum wage.
  • A 7% raise in 2027.
  • Another 7% raise in 2028.

We again voiced strong frustration with management’s wage-increase process, in which some workers received raises while others received none.

We are now awaiting management’s response.

ASI management has used delay tactics in the past to drag out negotiations, but we have refused to back down—and we will not let up now.

We need to continue showing that we are united and ready to stay in the fight until we win.
