CSUEU members grew our worker power last year like never before and we will push just as boldly into the New Year.
The CSU, as expected, is all too ready to wave the white flag over potential budget cuts in the upcoming fiscal year. As the largest employees union at the University, we have the power to build our own path for good jobs, good pay, and a good education for the students we support every day.
For the past several years, union leaders have come together annually to chart a plan for the future. We call it our “Path to Power” plan. For 2025, the Board of Directors adopted five key priorities:
- Make CSUEU a top priority at the SEIU State Council, a powerful labor organization that advocates for 700,000 workers in California.
- Win full salary steps implementation for Career Staff and a good first contract for Student Assistants.
- Increase union membership across all chapters.
- Organize new groups on campus.
- Prioritize resources to win.
We, the Career Staff and Student Assistants, perform the essential work that supports student success. For the overall success of the CSU community, we need investment and stable state funding. We will keep holding CSU leadership accountable to its mission of providing academic and economic opportunities to a diverse population of Californians, especially the underserved who face systemic barriers.
Our 2025 plan puts our Union on the path to winning good jobs for workers because our work is the foundation for successful student learning.
