Staff Bargaining Recap | June 16, 2026

Contract News

Hundreds of union members rallied at SFSU directly outside of bargaining. We followed management’s bargaining team in and out of bargaining, and let them know in no uncertain terms that if we do not get the deal we deserve – we are ready to strike.
Our bargaining team said these are the key takeaways:
- Management did not respond to our economic proposal from last week. They are “still calculating” the costs.
- They watered down their own proposals related to employee discipline and Unfair Labor Practice strikes, but not in any meaningful sense.
- Ultimately, they have just thrown us a bunch of crumbs. Rather than substantially engage with our solutions to campus problems, they are stalling.

Our contract expires on June 30th. CSU management can either come to our next bargaining session with a real response, or they can begin preparing for severe campus disruptions due to a strike.
