Student Assistant Bargaining Recap | June 15, 2026

Here are the key takeaways from our bargaining session with management on June 15, 2026:
- The CSU was 30 minutes late to today's bargaining session, and they came unprepared. They would get a failing participation grade in any class.
- Our bargaining team tentatively reached agreement for new rights related to employee discipline and gender-inclusive contract language for lactation rooms.
You can read the full proposal we gave to management here. One issue we talked about today was reflective of how the CSU views its student workforce: holiday pay. Many students, like myself, get most of our hours on Mondays, and we schedule our week accordingly. But when the campus is shutdown for a Monday holiday, we lose all of the income we normally rely on. Holiday pay for when we are regularly scheduled to work is just common sense.
The CSU's response was, "Can't students just get their hours later in the week?"
NO! We deserve to be paid for holidays! We should not have to take a financial hit every time the campus is closed.
By coming together in our union, we have the power to win on our demands, and more. Learn more about this bargaining session at our Bargaining Townhall on Wednesday, June 17 at Noon.
