New revenue proposals from the Democrats, unveiled at the end of May, include the same $366 million restoration of cuts to the CSU that Governor Schwarzenegger requested in his January and May versions of the 2010-11 state budget. On May 25, Assembly Speaker John Perez announced the California Jobs Budget , a new proposal to solve California’s budget deficit while creating private sector jobs and preventing cuts to schools. It includes $900 million to restore recent education cuts and fully fund the UC and CSU. Three days later, the Senate unveiled its 2010-11 state budget bill , which likewise includes restoration of recent CSU cuts.  “Although I remain hopeful that the legislature and governor will ultimately come to some agreement that will restore funding to the CSU, I will not venture a guess as to when and what else may be involved in the final budget,” comments CSUEU President Pat Gantt. “From now through the signing of the budget bill, contact your legislators and tell them about the positive impacts of the CSU. We must constantly remind the governor and legislators of the importance of the CSU so they will really follow through on solutions to stop the cuts.” Use CapWiz to send messages to your legislators in support of increased CSU funding!
